What you’ll find
Everything on the Cook table is homemade by local people in their own kitchens — well-known favourites next to recipes you won’t find in mainstream shops, with no preservatives or additives. Every cook holds the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, and many happily take custom orders for dietary requirements.
The Cook table is where most Friday mornings begin: bread and cakes still warm, pies and pasties for the weekend, and a shelf of chutneys, jams and marmalades made in small batches from local fruit.
Recent additions include smoked meat, fish and cheese — and the free-range eggs have a following all of their own. If you have a dietary requirement or a big weekend coming, talk to us: custom orders are part of how the market works.

Such a wonderful place. Fresh food, cakes, pies, vegetables. Can’t fault it. Love it.
